INGREDIENTS


  • Split black beans (Urad dhuli dal) - 1 cup ( soak in water for half an hour)
  • Ginger (chopped) - 1" piece

  • Garlic (chopped) - 4-5 flakes

  • Green chillies (chopped)- 2
  • Turmeric powder - 1/2 tsp
  • Salt - 1 1/4 tsp
  • water -1 cup

Baghar

  • Big Onion (chopped) - 1
  • Big tomato (chopped ) -1
  • Radish - 1/2
  • Chopped leaves of 1 radish
  • Garam masala - 1/2 tsp
  • Chilli powder - 1/2 tsp
  • Oil or ghee - 3-4 tbsp

METHOD

  1. Clean, wash dal. Soak dal in water for half an hour. Strain dal.
  2. Pressure cook dal with 1 cup water and all the other ingredients. When the first whistle comes, slow down the fire and keep for 1 minute only.
  3. Remove from fire. Open the cooker only after the pressure drops down. Keep aside.
  4. Cut radish leaves inot thin long strips.
  5. Heat ghee. Add onions. Cook till brown. Add tomatoes. cook for 2-3 minutes.
  6. Add chopped radish. Cook for 1 minute.
  7. Add radish leaves. Mix. Add 1/2 tsp red chilli powder and 1/2 tsp garam masala. Cook for 1/2 minute.
  8. Pour over dal. Mix gently. Serve hot.
