Poushtik Dal


Ingredients

Moong Dal - 250g
Methi Leaves/Palak (Chopped) - 150gm
Ginger chopped - 1 tsp
Garlic chopped - 1 tsp
Green chilli chopped - 3
Onion chopped - 2
Bay leaf - 4
cloves 0 4
Salt - to taste
Turmeric powder - 1/4 tsp
Red chilli powder - 1/4 tsp
Coriander powder - 1/4 tsp
Garam masala - 1/4 tsp
Lemon juice - 2 tsp

Method

1) Wash and soak the moong dal for 2 hours.
2) Put oil in a fry pan. Add ginger, garlic and green chillies, Bay leaf, cloves and saute. Then add the onions. When onions turn light brown add salt, turmeric powder, red chilli powder and coriander powder.
3) Add the chopped leaf into this.
4) Add the soaked moong dal. Close with a lid and cook covered for 10 min.
5) Mix well.
6) Add garam masala and lemon juice and serve.
